These beautiful birds are found near Livingstone in the Machile stream IBA and Nanzilla in the Kafue National Park.

Going to the Machile area requires a special day outing visiting the mature Mopane forests.  As a target bird the aim of the day outing would be to locate the species with incidental birding on the way.   This beautiful little Lovebird has a restricted distribution and its population is estimated to only a number in the region of 8,000 birds.

This near-endemic have isolated populations in Zimbabwe, which are believed to have come from captured bird escapees.
